Preventing
injury and trauma in youth is a community event. Lakeland P.A.R.T.Y. is
committed to partnering with the people of our community to create and
sustain an environment of healthy living. Our vision is of a place
where everyone works toward common goals on common ground and the
skills and attitudes at the core of P.A.R.T.Y. are those supported at
every level in our community.
Nonstop P.A.R.T.Y.
The NonStop P.A.R.T.Y. initiative is being developed in response to needs expressed by teachers to ensure that the attitudes and behaviours learned over the regular P.A.R.T.Y. programming are reinforced and integrated into each student's real life for the long-term.
Parent's P.A.R.T.Y.
The risk management skills youth learn at P.A.R.T.Y. involve a lot of reflection and practice at making choices, and students learn to both think themselves into a new way of acting and act themselves into a new way of thinking. This is not an event; it is a process that involves youth and their environments. Lakeland
P.A.R.T.Y. acknowledges that choices always occur in the broader
context of family, community, culture, etc. We are working with
stakeholders to develop the Parent's P.A.R.T.Y., an initiative inviting
parents to learn more about what their children are learning at the
regular program in schools and local hospitals.
FNMI P.A.R.T.Y.
Aboriginal students in our community are at high risk of preventable injuries involving impaired or distracted driving, improper seatbelt use, speeding, stunting, etc. Lakeland P.A.R.T.Y. is reaching out to provide requested injury prevention programming to aboriginal youth 10 to 24 years old, developed and delivered with aboriginal cultural considerations and community-based needs in mind, and including follow-up contacts as determined by the results of each education and training session.
Grad P.A.R.T.Y.
Lakeland PARTY partners with various agencies to offer outreach presentations to grads, reminding them of key ways to avoid injury and trauma at a time when risk becomes especially prominent in their lives. For more information or to schedule presentations at your school, please contact us.
