Prevent Alcohol & Risk Related Trauma in Youth

Post-P.A.R.T.Y.

The Lakeland P.A.R.T.Y. experience covers a broad span in time and space. Post-PARTY is the third element of the main program.

What is a Post-P.A.R.T.Y.?

Post-P.A.R.T.Y. is an opportunity to review what was learned during the pre-P.A.R.T.Y. presentation and the P.A.R.T.Y. day at the health centre and practice using the key principles in daily life.

The objectives and activities of the Post-PARTY session are outlined in the PostPARTY Module. In addition to the activities in the module, as part of the post-PARTY phase, students engage in interactive presentations given by community agencies such as AADAC, the RCMP, and the Lakeland Centre for FASD, offering more information and strategies for risk management.

Sample Post-P.A.R.T.Y. Activities

  • Contract for Life and Friends for Life Card Students take these home after P.A.R.T.Y. day, then talk about what they did with them and what sorts of attitudes they encountered.
  • Role Plays Students play out specific scenarios (e.g., refusing to ride in the back of a pick up truck; finding alternative transportation when the driver is fatigued, etc.) and discuss attitudes, environmental factors, and strategies.
  • What's In It for Me? Students evaluate the benefits and costs to themselves, based on their own goals and values, of acting or not acting on the key principles.

There are many activities to choose from in the post-P.A.R.T.Y. Module, each dedicated to reinforcing and practising one or more of the core principles.
